  22. The Hayes V-series Modem Enhancer has a "Estimated Retail Price" of
  23. $349.00, and is normally only available through Hayes Advanced 
  24. Systems Dealers.

  26. The V-series Modem Enhancer adds V-series Systems Product 
  27. capabilities, including CCITT V.42 capabilities - to a Smartmodem 
  28. 2400 or Smartmodem 1200.  Enables error-control communications 
  29. with other Hayes V-series Systems Products, and other CCITT V.42 
  30. compatable modems; adaptive data compression on error-control link 
  31. achieves effective throughput of up to 4800 bps for a Smartmodem 
  32. 2400, 2400 bps for a Smartmodem 1200; Automatic Feature 
  33. Negotiation selects best modem link to maximize transmission.
  34. For the Smartmodem 1200, nonvolatile memory also adds 
  35. convenience previously available only in 2400 bps modem products 
  36. - configuration without DIP switches, storage and retrieval of two 
  37. user-defined profiles, and storage of four phone numbers for 
  38. asynchronous auto-dial.  RS-232C interface.  Requires a Hayes 
  39. Smartmodem 1200 or Smartmodem 2400 (external units) and a RS-
  40. 232 Cable. Cautionary Note:  Although we have received reports of 
  41. the V-series Modem Enhancer working with "other" modems, Hayes 
  42. will only provide technical support for operation with the 
  43. Smartmodem 1200 or Smartmodem 2400.

  45. This unit supports Annex A of the CCITT V.42 Standard, and will 
  46. permit MNP level 2-4 error control - provided the system at the 
  47. other end supports the same standard.
